The CryptoFile you use to decrypt must exactly match the CryptoFile used to encrypt. (This security factor prevents hacking)
- Do not modify CryptoFiles between encryption and decryption. If you make changes to the file that you used as your CryptoFile be sure you save the original to use for decryption.
- If the file will be decrypted on a different computer, ensure that the CryptoFile is the same size at both endpoints. Opening any file before saving it often changes its size between computers. Do NOT open the CryptoFile™, save it, and then decrypt. INSTEAD, browse and click the closed file exactly as you downloaded to your computer. (See TIP, below)
- It is not necessary to download the CryptoFile™ for Merlin's encryption or decryption process. Merely browse for your file on a USB-flash, CD, DVD, or other network drive where the CryptoFile™ is located, and click on the closed file.
